HPV is a virus you may not know much about - but you should. It is a common virus that affects both men and women. At least 50% of sexually active men and women will get HPV infection in their lifetime.

There are more than 40 HPV types that can infect the genital areas of men and women. These HPV types can also infect the mouth and throat.

Some types are relatively harmless—like the ones that cause common warts on hands and feet. Some types of HPV can affect the female genital area which can lead to cervical cancer, abnormal cervical cells, genital warts and other HPV-related diseases (such as vaginal and vulvar cancers) and in males, genital warts, anal and penile cancers.
